ABOUT LIZ BAKER:

Liz Willis Baker is a native of Southeast Georgia, residing in Scottsdale, AZ. She pursued an art, architectural, and interior design education at Savannah College of Art and Design and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design from Georgia State University.

In her career, she has acquired a wealth of design knowledge and skills. In addition to over two decades of freelance design, working for design firms, and retail showroom decoration, she has assisted prominent designers on HGTV, as well as on TBS. She has also had professional training in custom furniture design, furniture sales, and graphic design. She even has had the opportunity to use her fine art background to create custom paintings for individuals who prefer original works of art in their homes. With this on-the-job training and years of networking, she is able to approach each project with talent, efficiency, organization, and with abundant resources.

Liz specializes in mixing styles and marrying looks. This works out well for clients who have more than one desired taste to incorporate. From antique, to mid-century, to transitional, to modern, she can do it all! Her personable demeanor is also her most desirable quality as a working professional.

On projects large or small, Liz will work closely with you, as well as your contractor, architect, landscape designer, and any additional experts needed to take your home from an idea to a complete, finished home.

“Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of being a designer. I used to make paper houses out of shoe boxes and decorate them, right down to the smallest details. I would even create chandeliers out of old costume jewelry and wallpaper the walls with patterned paper. I took that passion and I grew. And now, I'm living that dream.

Growing up on the southeast coast, I was exposed to many beautiful homes, from historic to the ultra-modern. As world travelers, my parents and their friends would bring home treasures from all over the world and show us slideshows of all the exotic places. I attribute these influences to my diverse taste in style. I tend to be a bit of a "design chameleon,” as I have an affinity for many styles, and I love a good design challenge. Each project has its own character and should reflect the client's personality. This is my goal in every design. Nothing makes me happier than to see a satisfied client, one that is thrilled with their finished design. I want you to come home after a long day and feel like you belong, that this is your space and you’re so completely comfortable in it.

I am an artist at heart and I thrive with creativity. However, I also have a love of organization and I am able to cross the borders of an artist’s mind and the business world. I believe this is what makes me a strong designer. In the interior design business, not only are we creating beautiful spaces, but we are organizing many moving parts. Being able to manage these things is incredibly important to a successful design.

I believe that your home is your oasis. I strive to create designs that are timeless, whether for resale or for the home where you plan to spend your lifetime.”

“What a great experience. Liz was able to interpret my vague and inarticulate vision into a magnificent centerpiece of my home. Liz has a great eye for color, texture and scale, and turned my kitchen into what can only be described as a work of art.”

- Sarah Serpa

“Liz was an amazing asset during our condo remodel. We took it down to the studs, and Liz implemented our vision to perfection. She helped us work with vendors, pick out every detail from appliances to rugs, and guide us through the process. Remodels aren't fun, but we would definitely do it again because of our positive experience with Liz.”

“I could not have had a better experience working with Willis Baker Design! I was on the fence about hiring a designer in the first place, but decided to go for it since I just needed someone to come in and pull it all together. My hesitation was that I was afraid that I would be pressured to spend more, or have the project rushed. I am one of those people who like to mull over the options and make sure I am choosing the right thing. Liz was exactly what I needed. She helped me narrow down the theme and gave me a few choices for each piece that I was looking for. At that point I could take my time and purchase as budget permitted but I had that cohesive plan. When you see the overall design I couldn't wait to get piece by piece! I also liked how Liz is able to incorporate high end touches by cross shopping and throwing in some more budget friendly pieces to help me achieve the look I wanted.

The thing I love the most about Liz is that she is so easy going, no pressure and always listening to your needs. She's also honest even when she see's something not working and helps create a space that you can grow into and find practical.

I was kind of disappointed when my project was complete because I was going to miss our interaction! Liz also brings a high level of talent and has a lot of experience in the field. She introduced me to art and vendors that really set my home apart that you cannot achieve on your own by sticking to the big box stores. I also applaud her eye for color. The pops she adds brings a playful element to my space. I am no longer afraid of color!

Thank you again Liz, you're the best!”
